Open to all Western Australian students in year 4 to 12, FOCUS Environment is designed to provide teachers and students with a rewarding vehicle for teaching and a learning about the natural environment.
Your students can win cash prizes of up to $200 each and, if they’re based
in the country, a trip to Perth for the presentation night for them and one accompanying adult.
By your students entering, you can win cash prizes of up to $1,500 for your school.
The West Australian’s Newspapers in Education unit has developed a teachers' pack with plenty of handy hints on how to incorporate FOCUS Environment into your lessons.
The pack contains hints on taking good photos and writing award-winning captions.

Second prize winners receive $120 each and $1,000 for their schools. Highly commended students will win $50 each.
Every prize winner and commended student will be invited to the Awards Presentation in September. Assistance with travel, accommodation arrangements and costs will be offered to first prize winners (and one accompanying adult) from regional areas. While assistance with costs cannot be extended to second prize winners or students with commended entries from regional areas, they will be made very welcome at the Awards Presentation, should they wish to attend.
